Feedback from a student on elections.

After the Malawi Electrol Commission announced that Dr. Bingu Wa Munthalika and his DPP party has won the elections,most of the people ware filled with immesurable joy.Bingu got 65%,the remaining 35% was shared among the other 6 candidates.Muluzi made an alliance with John Tembo of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and he was the one who promised to start violence should John Tembo loose the elections.What happened was the contrary.Muluzi came at the Kamuzu Stadium where The swearing ceremony was taking place in Blantyre city.He hugged Bingu whom he had treated very cruelly the last 5 years.Bingu promised to work with all people regardless of their political grounds.The most interesting thing is that Bingu has broken the system of regionalism that has been taking place in previous elections eg northerners volting for afellow northerner has stopped.All the three regions have volted for Bingu and this siginifies unity in Malawi.All people so far have opened anew chapter of dialogue and reconciliation as the president has said. another good thing is that for the first time in our country we have a female vice president Joyce Banda.How I wish you could come to Malawi to see these things.
