Also Jobbed in New York!

Hi all,

Yeah, what's up with the quiet board? I miss you guys and want to hear everything!

I got offered a job yesterday at The Hunger Project (www.thehungerproject.com). THP actually operates in Malawi (and many other countries world-wide) and surprisingly at our "boma," so Joaquin and I thought it sounded familiar when I applied. I interviewed on Monday, got called on Tuesday to come in for a second interview, and got offered the job yesterday evening. I also join the workforce on Tuesday. I am so excited for this job, it really feels like it was made for me. I am the Office Manager/Receptionist, and I'm getting paid a bit more than when I left Oregon to join PC. I'm pretty happy to have been offered enough money to survive by a non-profit company. I don't know if I'll return to school. Honestly, I like doing administrative work and I need to realize there is no shame in doing what I like and what I'm good at. So I'm proud to be the office manager for The Hunger Project. My co-workers are great, 18 women, 2 men, and all motivated by the desire to end hunger. One of the ladies interviewing me even got teary-eyed as she told me about their work with African Women Farmers. I knew I wanted to work there when I saw that someone who had been there a while could still get touched by the work.

Miss you all! Tonight Kelly and Tom are coming over for pizza (they're bringing the pizza) and then off to Brooklyn for some movie about Cameroon or something. Anyone else care to join us? :)

Stephanie
