I've been jobbed!
Well, things are looking up for me. Two of my previous jobs both were unhappy to hear I didn't make rabbi school, but were eager to fill my free time with employment. I had one offer very quickly, and it pays pretty nicely, but wasn't exactly what I was looking for. Then, one of the people I used to program with in NASA decided they had a job that was perfect for me, if I wanted it. I said sure, and she then proceeded to create the job for me! The job description was based on my resume. (When it posted, and I applied online, I couldn't resist putting in the cover letter "This job and I are such a perfect match, it's as if it was made for me!") I went through the interview Monday, and got a call giving me the job on Tuesday. So, as of next Tuesday, I'm officially back among the employed masses! This job doesn't pay as well as the first one I was offered, but gives me the warm fuzzies of saying, "Well, at least I work for NASA." And it pays better than the job I left to join Peace Corps, so all-in-all, I'm in a good software engineer's life.
Not really sure that this is what I want to be when I grow up, but it's definitely a good way to pass the time...
Speaking of passing the time, I'm going on a four day camping deal, to the Kerrville Folk Festival. It's one of the biggest folk music festivals in the U.S., and basically, it's where all the modern hippies hang out. Maybe my guitar skills will improve while there. Last time I went, I didn't know enough guitar, and I was clean shaven and with a crew cut. Now, between the beard, some knowledge of guitar, and the possibility of amazing them with my Peace Corps adventures, I think I'll fit in better.
Life's good!
Hope everything is good with y'all. The postings have gotten kind of quiet lately!
Stay well,
-- Scott
